You can get good cars in government auctions. I did.
Here you will find out when and where these auctions take place in your area.

Check Copart Auto Auction. They have several yards in CA. There are salvage and clea title vehicles. An access you can get through one of the resellers.
Did you check Manheim auctions?
I know they are very big company and have more auction centres
if you are from UK then check http://www.Manheim.co.uk they have more than 17 auction centres in the UK region. If you are from USA then check http://www.Manheim.com not sure how many auction centres they have
